On August 18th at 7:00 pm EST, Queen Jay sat down with Called to Greatness’s Mariela Lopez to discuss BBOT, how the organization came to be, how to get involved with the organization, how woman can support each other, and much more.
How Did BBOT Come About?
Queen Jay first talked about who inspired her during her childhood.
Since she was a young girl, she had a lady in her church who was her support system. She credits her for being her ultimate support system even into adulthood. Jackie was also a part of a youth group calling them the “fantastic five” which inspired her to run ministries when she was a teenager. The “fantastic five” empowered her because “they saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself”.
After her high school years, she worked in a doctor’s office for about a decade. During that time, she met a woman who had casual conversation with her every time she went to visit someone in the hospital. Jackie shared her dream of creating a non-profit and the woman would repeatedly ask her why was she still working at the doctor’s office when she had a vision of creating an organization? After that talk Jackie immediately began working on her organization and that’s how BBOT came to be.
How Can Us Women Help Support One Another?
Jackie starts off by saying that we as women might not have the same purpose or journey, but we might have the same vision. In order to support one another we need to encourage each other and everyone needs to know that we are on the same side, and we are all in this together.
How Can I Apply to Become a BBOT Mentee?
How to apply:
-Download application on website www.bbotqueens.org
-Submit application to info@bbotqueens.org
-Attend an orientation
-Parent and Mentee phone call (parents to be involved in seeing the mentee’s growth)
As a Parent, Why Should I Trust my Child to your Organization?
Queen Jay talks about saying that God is the first thing in her life, and the organization is surrounded by God. Jacqueline states “The center and CEO of BBOT is God and God comes first and God surrounds this organization, and if God doesn’t do it, I don’t do it”.
How has COVID-19 Changed the Program?
Queen Jay says that BBOT has tried to do everything online, on Zoom or Google Meet or on another online platform. She also explains that she is a hand on hand person, and it is different for her, however, they are working with what they have. This is how life is going to be and might be the new norm, but we have to think of the goodness of 2020, even when it is full of negative things. Think positively but don’t stop what God has created and given you. Work with what you have. They try to set 1 on 1 conversations online and talk with the girls. Try to encourage girls, and help them emotionally during this horrible time. The passion has not changed, its only grown.
Talk a Little About the Heart of Serving
Jacqueline is a servant of God and a servant at heart. Serving is very important, and she likes to serve not publicly, but privately. Giving back is important, and we need people that like to give back and are always available to get orders and always be there to serve them. Jacqueline gave back to 36 people for her 36th birthday. Jacqueline wants to be God’s hand to others and always give back and be grateful for what we have. Other people might have it worse than you, and you have to be grateful and thankful for what you have. We have to help our community and it is amazing to see the joy of someone that you are helping when they really need it.
How are You, Jacqueline, Called to Greatness?
Jacqueline acknowledges that she is fulfilling the purpose that God is telling her to fulfill while she is here on Earth. She is creating a legacy, and helping young girls that are not going to forget what they learned from BBOT, but they will use this during this generation, and then this generation will inspire other generations. BBOT wants to impact future generations.
